And there are too many of them. It absolutely plays into the hands of demagogues who want to characterize that as "we want amnesty for all!". That's absurd, but yet all Trumpies make that claim.

Obviously I totally disagree with you. But we won't agree, and tomorrow, we'll see how the message resonates, because I see that as the singular issue driving Trumpie turnout. I think I was mostly wrong about how much damage would be done by the Kavanaugh nonsense. I think Trump's hysterics over the caravan overshadow all. And I think any attempt to downplay the creeping caravan as a national crisis, which are the words Trump uses, are met with accusations about demeaning and mocking (the concept of the caravan as a national crisis requiring deployment of 15 to 20k troops is mock-worthy).

Dems are no picnic on this issue. They should have gone all in on the DACA compromise and hung the failure on the Tea Party, which I bet would have balked. So this is not a pro-dem argument. It's an anti-bullshit argument. An anti-Trumpism argument. Trumpism = create national emergencies in the culture wars out of thin air.
