I actually haven't lived in Seattle since 1991 when we moved to Sammamish

(speaking of bubbles!). We actually live in Tacoma right now (our new place is almost finished) and it is a different experience for sure than either Sammamish or Seattle. Very diverse, some poorer areas, a lot of blue collar employees at the shipyards and military people based at JBLM. It is less expensive than up north, but it is also the fastest appreciating area in terms of real estate, surpassing King County for the last couple of years.

I like it. It is a vibrant place and they cleaned up the more dangerous Hilltop some time ago. But there is concern here about gentrification. More people from Seattle coming south in search of housing. This is just one of the downsides of massive economic growth.
