That's just not true. Voters get to make hire-fire decisions every 4 years


In between, Congress has a constitutional duty to provide oversight, and act as a critical check against executive power. Trump told the voters he'd "release his returns as soon as he could", and ultimately it became clear that he had no such intention. It was also unclear during the campaign whether he would divest his business interests if he won. He didn't.

Good governance is much closer to dictating that Congress provide this oversight, if for no other reason than to ensure voters have all the information they should have in making their hire-fire decision. The fact that dems in Congress are also politically motivated to perform their constitutionally mandated oversight functions certainly does not make them "rogue". There is nothing "rogue" about an attempt to ensure compliance with the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution. Winning an election does not render that clause irrelevant.
