No, not really. The question is can the dems effectively respond to the
Blatantly racist strategy currently being employed by the repubs. There is no reasonable rebuttal to the racism implicit in calls for people disagreeing with the Pres or criticizing the country's policies to be forced to leave the country. It's an old racist chant against non-whites now being leveled only at non-white dems. Biden's doing an awful lot of criticizing, and nobody's telling him he has to leave. More importantly, Trump built his entire campaign on the negative in '16. He was an endless bullhorn of criticism of the country. Yet he seems to think he's allowed to stay. He was recently asked that question on camera. He didn't answer it.
The dems have to walk that line, I agree. They should call it what it is, but be mindful that Trump has done best when he's dividing us. They have to provide a viable alternative, which has to include what they'll do, not just what they'll oppose. They pulled it off in the '18 house races, but that's no guarantee they'll succeed in '20.
I agree that they're making a mistake by forcing people to choose between extreme nationalism and a transformation away from capitalism in an economy that's rocking and rolling. Dems may believe down to their toes in the inequalities of this economy. But the electoral map simply doesn't align with that message, and if you can't win the election, you can't start addressing those inequalities..
