I doubt that. I think the nature of the corruption will change.

And with money sloshing around out in the open, there will be rich schools and poor schools, with the rich having clear advantages, and the poor doing everything they can to minimize their disadvantage. There will still be rules and rule breakers. There will be masses of predators descending on the kids and the schools, and who knows what kinds of corruption. Money always brings it.

I'm not sure you're wrong about the right way to go here - it's very subjective. There are plusses and minuses. We should go in with eyes open - it will alter the nature of the corruption and abuses we'll see, but it won't end it.

My gut says it would be better to have a minor league type system in both hoops and football - college sports and "the minors" exist side by side as feeders to the big leagues in both baseball and hockey. I see no reason why it couldn't work in other sports. Talent level may drop in college, but the competitiveness, parity, and status as true amateur leagues may just be better preserved.
