position with the non-white vote at this stage in 2015, but failed to really mobilize them to come out a year later. Unless Liz's appeal to the black vote changes, not much reason to expect her to improve on Hill's turnout.

Liz will excite the progressive wing of the party, but by and large, they did come out anyway in '16. Other than the portion that Stein pealed off, which could make a difference with such razor thin margins, as I said.

And another major difference that does not work in Liz's favor - Hill was a centrist, and Liz is an arch-progressive. She plays right into the "socialist" meme that repubs like to use, invalid though it may be to you and me. There could well be a trade off there, in terms of keeping centrists away from the polls (who tend to be in purple states, where we need them to come out) and galvinzing the progressive vote (who tend to be in blue states which are not in play, so more turnout is nice, but won't change the electoral outcome).

Look, depending on the poll, you consistently see a public HC option getting between 2/3 and 75% favorability ratings. Medicare for All across all voters? Well below 50%. Her marriage to Medicare for All makes 0 political sense, and just seems to make her feel good about her courage in standing with it anyway.
