The repub brand is alive and well in Kentucky. I don't draw much from this

year's gubernatorial race - Kentucky will go to Trump next year (assuming nothing earth shattering happens over the next year).

I agree the repubs have probably lost a step or two since 2016, especially in the burbs, but a tiny little sliver of voters will decide how 2016 goes, I think. Although another factor could be greater turnout in key urban areas that didn't get enthused about Hill.

Anyway, it really is all pissing in the wind at this point. I continue to believe one thing - the worst possible outcome for any anti-trumpie is Trump impeached, acquitted, and re-elected. That will likely have the exact opposite impact impeachment fans want. The opposite of "held to account".

Not that I know he'll be re-elected. Have to see how the public phase of impeachment goes, and how public sentiment seems to react, to determine if impeachment is a good idea (it will happen whether it is a good or bad idea - train left the station). And I think we have to see the dem primary voting start to coalesce around a candidate and concrete platform to begin predicting if key areas will turn out better than in '16, and if that sliver in key states will abandon Trump.

The one bit of good anti-Trumpie news - they tried a campaign in Kentucky to tie Beshear to AOC and all the evil dem "socialists", and it appears not to have stuck. Of course, Liz is trying to giftwrap it back to them, so we'll see, if she gets the dem nod.
