I basically agree with this. It's about political tactics, and it's a

source of frustration for me with dems on several fronts. The nature of progressives, I think, is to be empathetic and to think with hearts more than heads. Med For All is a principled concept, and I think Bern is completely honest in his beliefs (Bern's relentless honesty is a big part of his appeal). I just think he is an academic type, with little real world administrative experience, who is ideological rather than practical about govt control, the problems of big bureaucracies (public or private), etc. And about tactics.

Med For All needs to be pursued by its fans in stages. It makes sense to add it to the menu of options in getting to universal coverage, because people poll that they will vote for that in large numbers. But not for immediate Med For All, so inflexibility on that actually pushes us closer to another Trump term, which pushes us closer to the end of Ocare, including its protections for those with pre-existing conditions (I know you bristle at that as a statement of Trump policy, but if Trump and states suing in court get their way, Ocare goes away with no replacement on the table, so that would be the result as it stands now).

So ironically, Bern is advancing the cause for those who oppose universal HC IMO, although unintentionally.
