Those are two mutually exclusive scenarios.


No, Bumfuck Iowa should not count as much as Chicago. Fortunately under the electoral college, it doesn't. But it does count. Candidates can't just cow tow to Chicago and pay no mind to Bumfuck.

So no, I don't agree that they should count exactly the same. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that there would be no USA without the less populous states in 1789 having some protections from the dominant ones at the time - Virginia, Massachusetts, maybe NY. Those 3 had more of a say, but Delaware and RI got more than "no say".

That concern still exists today in a country as big and diverse as ours.
