That's my point. Without things happening here, people wouldn't have take
this seriously, no matter what report is coming out of other countries. So saying we are in this situation because China didn't report properly is revisionist history, as we were getting data from other countries but still did not taking things seriously.
One possible difference would be if Trump took things seriously back then and issued some drastic order. Yes, he'll be skewed by the left if he give a national or regional lock down order at end of Feb and paid a heavy political price. But as I mentioned before, that's the price of leadership, the right decision might not be the most popular option. And sometime, even the best option still leads to huge losses in some way. It would be similar to Carter's wearing a sweater giving a speech of energy conservation. Right message, but costly politically.
