The thing with this disease is, the people actually studying it and trying

To fight it on the front lines will be the first to tell you there is still a lot that we don’t know or don’t understand about it. We don’t really have a sense of longterm complications it can cause, what causes it to affect some people different than others, etc. And plenty of seemingly young, healthy people have been fucked up for weeks by this thing or even killed. I find it maddening when I hear these idiots parroting Trump and declaring it a non-event for everyone under 70. Like most things they parrot, just isn’t remotely true or honest.

Regarding reopening, the entire rest of the world has found a better way to do that than we have. We don’t all need to sit in our houses, but it should be clear what types of interactions are high and low risk and people should not be free to pack into theaters, restaurants, or Trump’s Klan rallies where this thing seems to spread like wildfire. Masks absolutely should be mandatory anywhere people are indoors or in close proximity. And a whole bunch of other shit I don’t have a clue about I’m sure, because I’m not a scientist, an epidemiologist, or a doctor.

The way our federal government has handled this is the biggest fail I’ve ever seen. And not a fail in the sense that people tried and didn’t get it done. This is a sheer combination of malice, incompetence, pettiness, and pathological dishonesty that we have “leading” our country right now. Anyone with sense could have seen this coming. Most of us just hoped Trump would never be in this type of situation before he was out. Now it’s clear he needs to go and we need actual leadership. Not some idiot telling us it’s a “Kung Flu Hoax” and to stick our heads in the sand like a bunch of fucking ostriches. Or this will continue.
