The sheer enormity of it, for one thing.

I remember my first trip, I was 13. My dad drove us into the city. I was so excited, seeing the iconic skyline as we were heading toward it. He told me not to strain my neck looking up at the buildings. And when we got in there, the height of them was majestic. I think that's just something you should see at least once.

But then, getting a boat ride to the Statue of Liberty. The great delis, my two favorites both are closed, Carnegie's and the Stage. But I'm sure I'd find one I like. And the lovely Tavern on the Green, that was a favorite restaurant of mine as well. But there is always something to find, the eats are amazing. The people are amazing. Rude, foul mouthed, hyper competitive but down to earth at the same time. I'm talking the natives, not the jokers on Wall Street. I can relate to them.

Then of course, in normal times, I might be able to take the family to a Yankees game. I haven't been to the new stadium. And I love NYC at Christmas time with the lights and decorations. St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Empire State Building, Macy's, and loads of other things to take the family to see. I'm not big on Broadway, been to a few shows. I like movies and shows better than live acting. However, I do fancy a ride in a horse drawn carriage, if they even do that anymore.

Visiting Chinatown and Little Italy are also cool. I like walking thru the Chinese markets and watching the vendors work the people.

I think perhaps the older you get, the more the novelty wears off. But when I was young, the place was magical to me. However, the last few times I was there, I had a blast. It's been a while now and it's probably gone down hill. But so has Paris, it's still fantastic.
