Why? And I’m not sure you’re wrong. Uncertainty is why you might be.
What is the true mortality rate from COVID 19? We don’t begin to understand the total universe of infections, so how can we know? Better still, what are mortality rates by group - we already know that if we managed to protect nursing homes effectively last spring, # of deaths might have been more than 50% lower in some states.
And then as people are saying below, what are some of the lasting effects, how long do they last, and who is most likely to experience them? It does not appear to be accurate to say “if you are young then you are asymptomatic”.
And will understanding any of this help relieve the crushing rush on hospitals when spikes happen, which then has a knock on effect all through our HC system?
I think getting a handle on all these unknowns is what might lead to COVID 19 being more like annual flu, even if we don’t have a true vaccine bringing near universal immunity.
