But your legal arguments are backwards. Currently, Twitter
Is not considered a news organization, and they can pretty much suppress whatever they want. Or they can allow misinformation. Or worse, disinformation. They are legally protected from liability for the content introduced by their users. They are addressing their policies because Trump himself threatened to work to remove that protection. That’s all this is.
Any suit in a court of law would fail imo (I’m not a lawyer but that is my understanding). And the ACLU would not be likely to support an action in court to force a private organization to do much of anything - because that would be completely inconsistent with their goal of protecting the civil rights of such an organization.
Twitter is one organization. They can’t suppress discussion of anything. But they can say “nobody can talk about hamsters on our platform. We hate hamsters”. Or any other topic they choose. You’ll have to go elsewhere to discuss those things.
In a way, it’s your position here that is the assault on civil rights and the 1A. [Post edited by hoolstoptheheels at 10/15/2020 1:06PM]
