Yeah, just watching a retrospective; hard to imagine a public figure who


Better exemplified quiet dignity. In his day he was actually kind of overshadowed by guys like Mays and Mantle who had spectacular individual seasons and flashier styles with flashier teams. As a kid we’d talk a lot more about Mays passing Ruth, but Aaron with his kind of quiet, consistent year after year play was just there all of a sudden. He had a habit of hitting 44 HRs per season, matching his uni number. But never 50.

Same quiet, confident, dignified way about him off the field.
