I will give Trump credit for things he did that were good and that I don't

think are "no brainers" or things that any president would do. For instance... not getting us involved in another foreign conflict. Good on him and that IS somewhat unusual for a president. Pushing medical pricing transparency. Again, good on him, and long overdue. Aligning corporate tax rates to be consistent with the rest of the world. Good on him, and also long overdue. Reducing the number of onerous gov't regulations. Good on him. That's 4 good things Trump did while in office off the top off my head that I have no problem giving him credit for. No TDS on my part.

Procuring personal protective equipment for medical personal during a pandemic. Ok. great. That's like giving a president kudos for declaring a federal state of emergency after a hurricane or earthquake. Yes, it helps, but ANY president would do those things. Do you REALLY think other presidents wouldn't have had their team work to procure PPE and ventilators? Serious question for you

So that's not unique to Trump... that's basically doing his job (or really not interfering with the gov't doing it's job). What is unique to Trump is downplaying and minimizing the seriousness of the greatest public health crisis of the last 100 years and creating a stupid culture war over individual responsibly and common sense during a fucking pandemic. You also overlook the absolute Wild West, "every state for itself" approach to testing. A little federal gov't leadership on that front would have have been helpful. But more testing meant the numbers go up which Trump didn't want (as he specifically said on numerous occasions). So states were left to fend for themselves.

I think where you have it wrong in attributing my view of Trump's handling of other pandemic to "TDS" is that you have it backwards. For the first 3 years of Trump's term, I viewed him as an embarrassing buffoon, but one who did some good things (corporate tax reform, regulatory reform) but didn't have anywhere near the temperament or intellect for the job. I would never vote for him, but I could mostly ignore his nonsense. It was when the pandemic hit and I watched his abysmal handling of it that I turned from being merely embarrassed by the president to being actively opposed to having someone so horribly incompetent in charge. My TDS didn't influence my view of his handling of covid... my observation of his total mishandling of covid created my "TDS" in the first place. I became absolutely horrified that we could have such an incompetent moron in charge during a crisis.
