Redundant laws do little harm other than wasting Congress' time (not acutally insignificant IMO), but campaigning on the false claim that you're protecting babies with a redundant law spreads misinformation. That was sort of the point of this whole discussion. The law was about scare mongering voters with the notion that doctors would try to abort babies, have them come out alive, and then let them die. It was based on a single case of a doctor who was charged with a crime for that criminal act before the law was ever brought up. Yet somehow it became a major talking point for the GOP for several years.
