If I may butt in here, the main issue with Roe was the way that
five unelected judges just swooped in and ended the whole debate. It was a brazen act of judicial activism if there ever was one -- and I say that as one who agrees with the result.
Taking the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment and cases that interpreted it (along with other amendments, emanations and prenumbras included) to contain a nebulous "privacy" right that could be expanded even further to make abortion a federal constitutional issue went way too far and, IMHO, set a really bad precedent.
We've seen the other side of the coin with what Republicans have done with gun rights, political donations, etc.
