I have been reading the responses with great interest...
because I've wondered what others perceive as the allure of DJT. I do think there are a few subtle things about Trump that influence why he maintains a following.
First, he really has no filter when it comes to ideas that enter his brain. If he thinks it then he'll say it. Not everyone will agree with the sentiment of his thoughts but by delivering unfiltered messages he does convey a certain truthfulness. And, there are many that want to hear what they perceive to be truthful messages. If you know that a person speaks what is on their mind then it's hard not to believe that they are saying what they believe to be true.
Second, he does have a fairly limited vocabulary and the result is that his messages are not overly complex or filled with words that are not easily understood. I think people grow tired of hearing messages from physicians, epidemiologist, military leaders, economists, business leaders, etc., that may use words and phrases beyond the ordinary person. Trump can deliver a message that is understood by the majority of the population (granted, there are times when I've wondered what he really means in the message but I clearly understood what he was saying). Other politicians should take a page from Trump's book when it comes to addressing the public to "dumb down" the message when it doesn't need to be overly complicated.
Lastly, Trump really does have an innate ability to "tell a story" that his potential investors want to hear and need to hear to buy into his investment opportunities. And, he has been able to take that same skill and translate it into his time while president. He was able to gain support for many of his ideas across the US population because he could frame that idea within the "storyline" with the result that he reeled in the potential "investor" (read that as voter or politician).
