Awareness is the key. I didn’t know it was a thing until a few years ago

I was going to bring in a cake for work for no real reason so was going to make a joke about all the stupid holidays out there (national hotdog day, twins day, sock day - whatever). I’m really glad I chose to google Juneteenth before making light of it.

So awareness is the key. My wife showed her second graders a video on it just a few days ago as it was a suggested topic from the county.

It’s an important part of history. And knowing that black people on their own held annual jubilees in celebration of this event kind of helps signify the importance of this in American history.

This was unknown history to a lot of Americans. This holiday will help change that.
