It’s not a lie. If not for the tax cuts, revenues


over the last 4 years would have been ~$800 billion higher and the deficit would have been ~$800 billion lower. This stuff is all relatively easy to model (taxable income is relatively predictable over short time horizons of a few years), and the actual revenues were pretty close to what was predicted by the CBO after the tax cuts and ~$800 billion lower than their pre tax cut baseline projections.

I take it you’ve never worked in a position where you had budget responsibility and had to forecast revenues and expenses and model different revenue scenarios.
