The only way to support discrimination against gays, imo, is to determine them to be making a sinful choice. But that doesn't make sense to me--given the traditional condemnation of gays in America historically. And I have gay family members who really do not seem to be "choosing" at all here. Everything changed once I began to embrace that the notion that gays are inherently wired differently and created by God that way, by, in fact, by a God who loves them equally to me--given there is a God at all (I still lean toward yes here, but decidedly toward a God not made after my image any longer).

In fact, the first trans person I came to be very good friends with over time was raised on a Montana cattle ranch on the lower Yellowstone River. She still loves horses and has to own a tractor on the homestead she shares with the person she married when before his gender journey. It just became really hard to for me to see Wren (her new name) as being any bigger a sinner from anyone else among us as she works hard and just wants freedom and privacy. And hell, yeah, I'd trust her with my kids completely, given her strong moral constuct.
