Jeff Bezos could theoretically pay zero income taxes if he wanted to structure his financial situation to do so. The left's narrative about "the rich" paying their fair share is just class warfare nonsense -- that's not what income taxes address. That is what a wealth tax would address, however.

That aside, yes, income tax rates (brackets) are going to increase on higher earners (if not all earners), but their effective tax rate and actual taxes paid could decrease as a result of an increase in the cap for SALT deductions. If the SALT deduction cap went from $10,000 to $80,000 for example, then that's a $70k delta. Assuming a 40% marginal tax rate on that $70k, that would be a reduction of $28,000 in taxes due, all else equal. It's bad tax policy, IMO, but it's a nice little windfall for people like me.
