The strain on our healthcare system seems to be the most significant on the
workers. You can't just create a purchase order to buy more doctors and nurses like you could buy more hospital beds or build a short-term tent in a parking lot.
The constant stories from healthcare workers is that they are burned out and quitting (or on the verge of it), and of course many are out themselves now with COVID given how contagious Omicron is.
The healthcare system, for better or worse, is already designed to handle the strain of the obese and smokers, etc. - it's the added burden of COVID that is causing the current problems - and that burden can be fixed by people simply getting a couple free shots at any drugstore.
I will also add that if obesity, smoking addiction, alcoholism, etc. could be prevented/cured as easily as getting 2 free shots, available at any drug store in the country, there would probably be a push to require them.
