It will be interesting to see how this plays out in a post-SAT world
which I think is essentially here.
It isn't the whities complaining as often about the impact of race-based discrimination these days, we hear it coming more from Asian-Americans. I have also read studies that suggest that Asian-Americans will be hurt the most by not having the standardized test contribute significantly to admissions decisions.
That is going to make things more squishy, not less - which I'm guessing is fine with those making the decisions. They will also start to re-define the outcomes (and inputs) they seek. Are colleges and universities in the business of producing the leading research scientists or the next generation of leaders? Probably depends on who you ask and which university (and even which department) you're talking about.
Long way of saying, good luck trying to legislate this one for practical purposes.
