I don't disagree, but what goes into a
Test scores can be (and frequently are) gamed. Back in the day, the income of the student's parents was the only factor that reliably predicted them. Not sure whether or how it is different now.
I've been recruiting both undergrads and business school students for decades. In a past life, we used to look at scores. An indicator (or a red flag) for me, but never the basis of a decision. Same w GPA.
It will be interesting to see. Perhaps they change the approach, require different types of tests, more interviews, etc. Scores (GPAs and tests) are higher than ever, aren't as reliable as they used to be for ID'ing the distinctive candidates.
I'm more w Boca below. Strict targets around ethnicity don't really solve the problem, though they may make people feel better. If we're worried about "equity" and really creating opportunities, I'd rely more on socio-economic flags. I have no problem with state schools doing this.
Either way, this country has bigger fish to fry. Not sure why we want to start investing energy on this again (unless it is politically motivated, which everything seems to be nowadays). [Post edited by Capital City Hoo at 01/24/2022 1:08PM]
