But this weekend was as much American diplomatic coup as military achievement. We assembled a very effective coalition on short notice, and Iran’s on its back foot, I bet breathing a major sigh of relief it doesn’t need to escalate (I certainly hope that’s their thinking).

It’s about leverage at least as much as trust, and I think we and our allies have almost all of it in this relationship.
