Sorry, but I'm just talking about the people within my
circle of friends who voted for Trump. There's nothing "dark, cynical, fatalistic, or ugly" about why they voted for Trump the best I can tell.
I don't know that Trump necessarily "struck a nerve" with me on anything. I don't like political correctness run amok, but a president acting like an ass for the sake of not being politically correct doesn't strike a nerve with me. And I have real, and I believe legitimate concerns about the threat of radical islam. I have held these views since well before Trump was even a blip on the political radar screen. But I also don't think extra scrutiny for immigration from parts of the world where islamic extremism is rampant comes from a dark, cynical, fatalistic, or ugly place. You may disagree with that, but then I would contend you have your head buried in the sand on the issue and we'll just have to agree to disagree.
There's no doubt that dislike for hillary was a major factor overall in Trump's win, I just didn't see/hear it much among my friends. You can either believe that or not... doesn't really matter to me.
