I'd gladly tell that to software developers. They're not being replaced


by H1B's for a lower cost, they're being replaced by H1B's with better skills.

The salary review process for H1Bs is actually pretty rigorous. You can't just replace a US worker with a H1B visa holder. You have to prove that no US worker can do the job (a joke and easy to do) and demonstrate their salary is in line with other comparable positions in the company (this part is much less susceptible to be gamed)

I've gone through the process two times recently. In one case we had to increase the employees salary by a substantial amount to comply with the salary requirements.
