And it it still applies. If the government is giving me money because I have a kid, your logic leads to the thought that the government should start telling me what to feed them.

AND, there are restrictions on what can be purchased with food stamps. Already. TommyK may believe what he wants, but I'm willing to bet that poor people in SE DC aren't living fat and happy off of lobsters and caviar every night, toasting each other over the fast one they've pulled off at the expense of those poor fat suckers on the other side of town. The freeloader problem is real. It is also pretty narrow in scope, and not driving the nation into bankruptcy

And yes. People on SNAP pay taxes. Most of the people receiving assistance DO have some sort of job. It just isn't enough to get by. And even the truly destitute still pay taxes every single time they buy something, and God only knows how many embedded taxes passed down the supply chain.
