It doesn't matter how we view his situation, only how HE does. He wasn't getting hit by smart bombs, but you can bet plenty of his relatives and people his parents know were/are. The damage smart bombs and drones do aren't recruiting tools restricted just to the battlefield.

I'm not trying to justify anything or mitigate the seriousness or senselessness of the act, just shining a light on the oft-used ignorant rationale that worked for over a decade among the GOP base and a goodly portion of the rest of the American public.
