I think you misunderstand me.

I have no problem with policy differences and do not mean to imply them in this discussion. Cutting taxes vs. raising them...what is in the public interest? Reasonable people can differ (even though I do have my views about this).

My point was the idea of a "public servant". By this I mean someone (1) doing a thorough job and (2) having integrity about the process. I think people like this do exist (I know many of them, granted I have never worked on something as political as the Russia investigation). These people have political views (on both sides) but that is fine because they are public servants. Normative judgements on what the "best interest of the people" is irrelevant in this context.
