I guess, seemed excessive to me to warrant that response.

At best it's an unknown, and I'd think the NRA would want to speak up for a legal gun owner/carrier in such a high profile case.

Read some more on this, apparently Trevor Noah said the same thing and pinned it on racism. Can't rule that out, but I think it's more likely just a sensitive issue because NRA folks are often also right-leaning law and order types (w/ the exception of the hardcore libertarians.) I really wish some of this race stuff was thought about a little bit more before accusations are made. You can make the accusation if that's how you feel, but at least consider other obvious explanations.

Anyway, I'd think the NRA would side with the citizen legally exercising his rights in a controversial case. They actually commented on it when it initially happened, and said they would comment again after the investigation.
