I rarely say this to you Tom, but I think you are exactly right.

There are polls out there indicating a large chuck of Americans are expecting this to be an immediate tax increase, for whatever reason. Repubs will say it's all about the negative spin in the liberal MSM, or its a misunderstanding of some observations that the biggest breaks are going to the super-wealthy, or a misunderstanding of the nature of some people's objections in a broader sense. Whatever the reason, this is a case when repubs should be happy about the negative spin, because people who think they are about to get a cut in net pay will see the opposite.

And if you think you're getting clipped, any increase makes you ecstatic.

The costs and weaknesses of ACA were immediately evident, and that caused it to be an albatross on the dems immediately. The benefits of this tax cut will be immediately evident, and I think dems kid themselves if they think this will be a drag on repub prospects next year.

The repubs may still do badly in the midterms, but I think it will be in spite of the tax bill, not because of it, if it happens at all.
