...the IRS actually makes money. That's their job. Expending $12B to receive $350T seems like an incredibly terrific return on investment.

Argue all you want about the appropriate level of taxation or how to distribute the money on outflow programs. If you make solid financial points that aren't based on prudish Social Conservatism I'll probably agree with you. But the notion that taxation is evil and the way to combat it is to hamstring the IRS is ideological idiocy at its finest.

The holy trinity of Waste, Fraud, and Abuse is always in effect, of course, but you have no idea how the IRS runs its business. Neither do I (though I was a contractor there for a few years and probably know better than you). But you've got no basis to pull the idea out of thin air that 9.5K auditors out of an 80k employee staff is too few.
