with what we broadly agree are American values? Europe is dealing with this right now with refugees from Afghanistan, Syria and North and East Africa, in particular. It's an issue here too, but the majority of our immigration and asylum seekers come here to embrace American values from Latin America, so much less so. Still, in places like the Somali community, for example, female circumcision is practiced at alarmingly high rates -- was well over 50% IIRC (I wanna say like 80%+, but I don't want to go look up the stat, I just know it's alarmingly high). Gays are viciously persecuted. Jews are persona non grata, etc. etc.

I'd much rather admit 10,000 people who want to come here because of what America is than a single soul who wants to come here and act like it's culturally the exact same as the war-torn country they just left.
