Boomers, if I'm not mistaken. First US soldier was killed in 1961, when the oldest Baby Boomer was 15. And the average age of US soldiers killed was 23, with most of the fighting done in the latter half of the 60s (when most Boomers were in grade school and some still in diapers).

Lots of Boomers fought and a decent number were killed, but only a Boomer would pretend like the sacrifice was entirely theirs. Not to mention the Boomers most worthy of the "me generation" Boomer stereotypes tend to be those born in the 50s who missed the whole party and went straight to disco and cocaine.

Oh, and Boomers turned around and sent Gen X and Millennials to die in Iraq which was no less idiotic a misadventure than Vietnam.
