American voters don’t respond very well to self-righteous, condescending


women. I hate it, because I have all the respect in the world for Elizabeth and think she’s far and away the most capable candidate in the race on policy issues (and that really isn’t how she is), but she comes across that way to a lot of people as a politician. I would add that she doesn’t “fib” or “embellish” any more than most politicians do, but she just isn’t very good at it.

Some of that DOES relate to latent (or not so latent) misogyny, but a lot of it is on her. She tries a little too hard sometimes and comes across as phony and contrived, especially with the “let me tell you about how empathetic I am” anecdotes.

Is what it is at this point.
