We're in an era that's just too new and unusual.

There are so many competing concerns. There is definitely no candidate with whom I disagree more regarding the economy than Sanders. To me, the idea of making something "free" even to all those who can easily afford it, and then making up for it on the "back end" with higher taxes, is an awful idea that has generally been thoroughly debunked. The idea that there should be no such thing as "billionaires" no matter how that was achieved is absurd - recent argument I read was about JK Rowling. Poor woman dreams up a fairy tale that brings joy to millions of people who are not forced to hand over their money for the pleasure. While that seems more benign than Bloomberg, the same really applies to him. That's how Harry Potters and Bloomberg LPs and Apples and Amazons happen.

I disagree with Sanders more ardently than Trump, probably on most domestic issues. And yet as hard a time as I'd have with a battle of the populist extremists in the general election, I know I won't vote for Trump because of his role in the growth of global nationalism, his wrecking ball on all alliances and institutions, and his crystal clear disregard for our democracy and all of its checks and balances.

My point being, predictions are meaningless. Conventional wisdom flew out the window years ago. Bernie might win in spite of all his weaknesses (or perceived weaknesses) because he is the lesser of two extreme "evils", even in the minds of confirmed free market devotees like me. Just like the God Squad went all in on a godless lying cheat of a scumbag because he'd advance their agenda. Strange bedfellows and the way echo chamber eco systems work make for an impossibly clouded crystal ball.
