The political landscape is very different from 2016.

The usual Trump apologists here point to the lead that Clinton had for most of the period leading up to the election, as a reason for hope this time around.

The one big difference is that this time Trump has a record to defend. It is not defensible, not at all. That 55% of voters have no intention of voting for Trump is not a surprise. In fact that is very consistent with Trump's consistently bad disapproval numbers. It wouldn't be surprising to see the election break in the 55-45 range to Biden's favor.
