Not prominently enough, at least in many people’s opinions.
I never heard of the Greenwood massacre in Tulsa until about a month ago. I saw a piece on the NewsHour where a current black resident of Greenwood never heard of it until he it was mentioned in a college black history class, to which he responded “wtf are you talking about?”
I definitely agree that racism and misogyny as we define them today were mainstream behaviors not that long ago. Far less clear that our historical perspective on all that is where it should be. I think that’s where we have to listen to each other more.
