Come up. I can’t speak for your anecdotes. I know many people who aren’t fleeing the city any more than any other summer.

If you think that fear you’re expressing isn’t completely out of proportion with reality, just look at the numbers. 200% increase in violent crime is a tiny % of total population of millions. Walk around Greenwich Village - it’s basically just quieter than normal because of closures.

But there are certainly parts of the political spectrum that want to stoke fear as much as possible.
