Of the people who objected to it, probably 40% did so because they believed


it gave southern business an unfair advantage, competitively; another 40% did so because they were racists who disliked Black people and didn't want them in the US; and maybe, maybe 20% did so for moral reasons.

That's of the people who objected to it, which maybe, maybe comprised 60% of the northern and western population Probably 40 percent of the north and west didn't care one way or the other.

This was a NATIONAL disgrace, not a regional one.
