There's left and there's far left

Hard to tell what the difference is, because you couldn't even get the mainstream media to call CHAZ/CHOP "far-left." But being slightly less left-wing than the far-left is definitely not centrist.

People who say "defund the police" can't agree on what it means, although Harris is on record for applauding the mayor of LA for cutting the police budget. She did not go for single-payer as a sole option, but a colossal expansion of government spending and reach is decidedly left-wing, not centrist.

A centrist would have both right-wing and left-wing tendencies in them. Being less of a leftist than the extreme left on a handful of issues doesn't count.
