It turned out like I thought. That group of people that were on the fence

And voted for Trump in 2016, voted Biden this time. I don’t think women change their votes as easily. I know a few women that voted Trump both times, even with all of his craziness. And they had no doubts about it. Men changed their votes. The guy I play golf with in the summer is a great anecdote. He voted for Trump in 2016. This summer he couldn’t even talk about him except to say he was an idiot. He would get really mad when his name was brought up. And he isn’t even a centrist. He would be right in the middle, not far right, but no a centrist.

Trump was going to lose some votes this time just because of his lack of Presidential qualities. He also lost votes because there was a sizable group of people that got turned off by his effort on Covid that would had voted for him otherwise.

We can still say that the majority of the people in this country are centrists. Half of the Republicans now are Trumpists. I would say about 25% of Dems are progressives with ideas that are too far left. On the surface that seems better for Democrats.

Trumpism is not going anywhere. The question for Republicans is will there be another Trump? I doubt it, but there will be someone who spouts the exact same ideas, just in a much more Presidential manner.

It’s seems Dems have much less of an establishment left. Their younger politicians seem to be more to the progressive side. I would assume Kamala will be the candidate next time. She could be taking on a more Presidential Trumpist. That will be interesting, but based on the results of this election, I would expect the Trumpist to win.

Healthcare will be a big issue in the next four years. I think immigration issues will fade into the background a little. Immigration can’t be seen by most people. Everyone has to deal with healthcare costs. We spend 3.6 trillion on healthcare per year. That is unbelievable. Is it time to do something about it? Seems most people want to. But that would be bucking the system and I think it’s likely no one does much except add the penalty back in.

Covid will eventually be a nonissue, hopefully. And I don’t think it will amount to much at all next election.
