I think you are referring to more traditional attempts to
Exploit vulnerabilities to work within the system to grab and hold power. That is nothing new, and both parties have done most of these things. Gerrymandering is certainly not just a repub phenomenon, although the repub party imo is far better at organizing and strategizing, and understood the value of winning the states perhaps more than dems did over the last 10 or 20 years.
What we are seeing now goes far beyond any of these usual “within the system” types of things that of course repubs will continue to use. If Bern and others embrace the label “socialist”, and American voters recoil from that in large enough numbers to defeat that label, then repubs will continue to use it against them.
Dems need to look in the mirror about stuff like that. Trump saying that “Pence better do his job by not doing his Constitutional duty” - repubs need to look in the mirror about that. This is the guy you elected - when it finally comes to a choice between him and the Constitution, where do you come down?
Too many come down on the side of Trumpist loyalty. But many don’t, and they appear to be sticking to their guns.
