I totally agree that we should be working to increase voter participation,
And that certain things repubs do are open to the interpretation of being about the opposite of that. Figuring out ways to screen out ballots and voters instead of figuring out ways to encourage every legal voter to vote and every legal vote to be counted.
Of course, many repubs will strenuously object to that interpretation. What we are witnessing now still goes far, far beyond this sort of “voter suppression” accusation. I think that’s a debate we’ve seen here before ad nauseum and will see again. Voter ID rules, the dangers of mail in, all that.
I believe what Trump is doing is completely different. It’s an outright attempt to seize power however he can, not to try to tip scales in an election in his favor. Personally, I think the whole country should follow the model of places like CO, WA, and OR and move to 100% mail in voting. But I won’t call someone “seditious” for disagreeing with me.
Defense of Trump’s actions now, or even just tolerance for it - that is active or passive support for a coup. I just see no other way to put it.
