Latest death rate by state graphic
New England kinda weird, having some of the worst states right next door to those who did a great job.
I'm actually surprise by Florida and California. Both Governors under fire, yet for large states with very large cities, that serve as gateways to the rest of the world, both have done fine comparative to many other states. So that got me to thinking, how did a place like Florida with so many seniors keep things in check. So I looked into the rates of seniors by state..and they did a pretty good job at protecting the old people in nursing homes. You had 4x worse chance of dying in a nursing home in Massachusetts vs Florida. Because I cannot link another link, this one will need to be in the message. I'm also not sure if the "nursing homes" category also includes CCRCs, so I suspect some of these numbers could be skewed by various state regulations as to what is included in "nursing home" and what is not. I know that Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Hawaii, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and West Virginia, have very few CCRCs. Not sure if the same applies to nursing homes.

For the most part, very high correlation between nursing home deaths and state deaths per capita.
