Burden met. See the JAMA study I linked, and relinked here.
Feel free to refute it. I can sympathize, if I still disagree, with your viewpoint if you also think speed limits are a govt overreach. Or vaccine requirements before putting kids in school. Govt constantly makes mandates for public health purposes. Wearing a mask is for the benefit of a community, not just the individual, and since the ramifications go well beyond the individual, mandates are on the table (like speed limits).
The overarching point is that mask mandates are virtually no sacrifice at all. A small to at most moderate level of discomfort. In exchange for preventing disease spread that costs many thousands of lives.
Govt is well within its rights to mandate individual behavior that impacts the lives of many well beyond themselves. And you are well within your rights to vote against the leaders who mandate them, if you choose to reject the many studies done on this subject (or on the benefits of speed limits, if that’s your thinking). But you won’t convince many people who think I like I do if you simply reject all of the science on those matters without producing anything empirical to back it up.
Well, I guess jpm at least tried a silly conspiracy theory about masks as a gateway to dictatorship to back up his anti-mask crusade.
