Bolton isn't wrong, at least not entirely. But the potential for radicalism
from Pakistan, not to mention their possession of nuclear weapons, has been a problem for years and regardless of our continued presence in Afghanistan. Since the 1980's Pakistan and India have been one of the most volatile spots for a potential nuclear exchange. Unfortunately, Bolton is correct that we have fed Pakistan's military and the ISI, partly stemming from the old cold war rivalry of Russian support for India.
I'll give Bolton credit for something else. I disagree with him about continuing our presence in Afghanistan, but he's pretty damned clear-eyed that our presence isn't for the benefit of the Afghan people like a lot of the other pro-war types pretend.
